​DiGeronimo Development Welcomes Trader Joe’s to Gateway North at John Carroll University

DiGeronimo Development is excited to officially welcome Trader Joe’s to Gateway North, the transformative mixed-use development rising at the gateway to John Carroll University’s campus in University Heights.

The addition of Trader Joe’s marks a significant milestone for the project and reflects John Carroll University’s vision for Gateway North to create a vibrant destination that enhances the student experience while serving the broader University Heights community.

Located on the first floor of the five-story development, Trader Joe’s will anchor nearly 28,000 square feet of retail space envisioned as a dynamic hub for students, residents, faculty, and visitors. The development will also include additional retail and restaurant space designed to bring new energy and connectivity to one of the University’s most prominent corridors.

Above the retail level, Gateway North will feature modern student housing accommodations for 351 students across 96 residential units, offering two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartments tailored for John Carroll University juniors and seniors.

Gateway North is the first phase of John Carroll University’s broader vision to revitalize and reimagine the campus gateway through a thoughtful blend of residential, retail, and community-focused spaces.

DiGeronimo Development is serving as the developer for the project, with Independence Construction providing Construction Manager at Risk services.

Construction is currently underway, with Trader Joe’s anticipated to open as part of the development this fall.
