Field Mechanic
Location: Chantilly, Virginia and Cheswick, Pennsylvania
A Field Mechanic is responsible to diagnose, rebuild, repair vehicles / equipment under limited supervision and to perform work of considerable difficulty in the repair, maintenance of vehicles / equipment and is responsible for various other functions including, but not limited to:
- Performs inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment
- Prepares and maintains records and reports
- May act as lead person in supervisor’s absence
Aptitude/Abilities/Skills:
- Diagnosing mechanical problems and performing repairs
- Safety practices and procedures
- Electrical systems, including computerized induction/ignition systems
- Use of diagnostic equipment
- Acetylene and electric arc welding
- Operation of vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes
- Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 60 pounds
- Work extended hours out of doors in a variety of weather conditions
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Within the last 10 years, five years of experience and/or training in vehicle/construction equipment repair and maintenance shop or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position
- Occasional overtime maybe necessary during peak times
