Estimator
Location: Sterling, Virginia
A Estimator is responsible to prepare competitive job estimates by interpreting drawings, bid documents, performing take offs for labor, equipment and materials and various other functions including, but not limited to:
- Read, understand and interpret drawings and specifications
- Solicit quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, estimate to be 95% complete prior to formal review with Chief Estimator
- Prepare rough schedule of project for determining time frame
- Review estimated productions with superintendents to finalize the bid
- Other duties as assigned
Aptitude/Abilities/Skills:
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred
- 3-5 years previous related experience is required in heavy civil work
- Must have strong organizational skills in order to handle the variety of tasks assigned
- Must develop positive working relationships with owners and project engineers as well as local government office
- Ability to perform complete and accurate project take offs and estimates
- Must be able to effectively communicate verbally with employees, external vendors, owners and general contractors
- Must be able to prepare letters that present a concise and logical point of view

- Accounting Software
