Accounts Payable Assistant

Location: Independence, Ohio

A Accounts Payable Assistant is responsible for various functions including, but not limited to:

  • Prepare and code AP invoices for entry
  • Data entry of AP invoices into system
  • Assist with AP check runs
  • File and maintain orderly files on AP and Payroll records
  • Reconcile AP statements
  • Contact AP vendors for back-up and missing records
  • Applying daily cash receipts to outstanding invoices and researching deposits for proceeds and miscellaneous items
  • Prepares special project billing and miscellaneous time & material invoices for customers
  • Support field operations by handling any inquiries by management regarding billings and job cost expenditures
  • Perform other duties, as required

Aptitude/Abilities/Skills:   

  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Minimum two years previous AP experience is required.  Some payroll preferred
  • Must be able to maintain complete confidentiality in regards to payroll
  • Must be able to meet weekly and monthly deadlines
  • Must have some computer skills in order to run reports, data entry, etc.
  • Accuracy is extremely important
  • Must be able to work independently and prioritize responsibilities
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally with internal accounting staff and external vendors
